COMMISSION MINUTES, FEBRUARY 20, 2007        

 

The Board of Washington County Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, February 20, 2007, in the commission room at the Washington County Courthouse.  Present: Alison Mueller, 1st District Commissioner, Chairman; Marcia Funke, 2nd District Commissioner; Gene Helms, 3rd District Commissioner, Libby Baskerville, Assistant County Attorney, and Kathy Fritz, Deputy County Clerk.

 

Chairman Mueller called the meeting to order.

 

Next regular meeting will be Monday, February 26, 2007.

 

Sheila Ouellette, Communications Director brought in bills for the board to review for the jail project.

 

The board approved and Chairman Mueller signed official bond for Michael Sampson as Highland Township Clerk.

 

The board examined evaluations for the County Health and Sheriffs Department and Chairman Mueller signed the payroll change notices effective January 1, 2007.  The board examined an evaluation for Justin Cordry for the Sheriffs Department and Chairman Mueller signed the payroll change notice effective August 30, 2006.  Chairman Mueller signed a payroll change notice effective February 15 for Calvin Dodds as Temporary Janitor.

 

Duane Bruna, Noxious Weed and Solid Waste Director met with the board.  The recycling department will be building recycling containers for anyone interested with supplies at the transfer station.  The cost for a two bin container is $5.00 and a three bin container is $7.00 to cover the cost of supplies.  The bins use a 30 gallon trash bag which they will not provide.  Plans for the bins are available upon request.  Duane Bruna also discussed the compost meeting he attended in Manhattan.  The Washington County Solid Waste Meeting will be Monday, February 26th at 6:00 P.M. in the commissioner’s room.

 

Bill Overbeck, Sheriff met with the board about the jail project.

 

David Willbrant, Public Works Administrator, gave his weekly work report.  Snow removal during the last snow storm was discussed.  The board reviewed and approved the Road and Bridge Inventory.  Gene Helms moved to go into executive session for 5 minutes with David Willbrant under personnel at 11:40 A.M.  Marcia Funke seconded and motion carried.  The board returned to regular session at 11:45 A.M.  No action was taken.

 

Marcia Funke moved to reappoint Eldon Geffert to the Airport Board for a three year term ending in December 2009.  Gene Helms seconded and the motion carried.
