COMMISSION MINUTES, MARCH 19, 2007
The Board of Washington
County Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, March 19, 2007, in the
commission room at the Washington County Courthouse. Present: Alison Mueller, 1st
District Commissioner, Chairman; Marcia Funke, 2nd District
Commissioner; Gene Helms, 3rd District Commissioner, Jason Brinegar,
Chairman Mueller called the
meeting to order.
The next commission meeting
will be Monday, March 26, 2007, at 8:00 A.M.
The board acknowledged
receipt of a letter from Marsha Habluetzel,
Don Richardson, custodian, spoke
with the board about replacement of boiler pipes. The board asked Don to get cost estimates
from PCI Mechanical. Calvin Dodds will serve as temporary janitor when Don takes

Chairman Mueller signed official bond for Lenis Weaver, Trustee, and David Wiechman, Clerk,
The board approved and signed
change order no. 2006-64.
Ann Hawk, Deputy Treasurer,
presented and the board reviewed an evaluation for Marci Elliott and Chairman
Mueller signed payroll change notice effective January 1, 2007.
Duane Bruna, Noxious Weed and
Solid Waste Director, reported that white goods have been sold to Smitty’s at Axtell for $120.00 per ton.
Sheriff Bill Overbeck and the
board discussed architect fees for the jail project.
Eldon Geffert;
Dennis White; Dick Hinkle and Sharon Pierce, Airport Advisory board members met
with the board and David Willbrant, Public Works Administrator to discuss
future projects at the airport. The
mowing at the airport will be placed for bids as well as a roll up door in the
office of the hanger. It was agreed that a 3 year contract will be entered into
with Mike Schuessler to put up hay in return for
fertilizing the brome.
Jason Brinegar,
Marcia Funke moved to
proclaim April as Fair Housing Month.
Gene Helms seconded and motion carried.
The board adjourned at 12:05
P.M. for lunch and reconvened at 1:00 P.M.
Marcia Funke was absent after that time to attend a North Central Kansas
Regional Planning Commission meeting in
David Willbrant, Public Works
Administrator, gave weekly work report.
Bridge grant projects were discussed.
Permission was given for David to get prices for a laptop computer. Gene Helms moved to accept the low quote of
DC Wholesale for the purchase of grader blades for $16,575.11. Alison Mueller
seconded and motion carried.
Gene Helms moved and Alison
Mueller seconded to enter into two contracts with Cook, Flatt
& Strobel Engineering, one for the biennial
bridge inspection and one for engineering design for three bridges. Motion carried. The NCKHOA meeting will be in
Janice Kearn, R.N., County
Health Administrator reported that Charles Walter will fill the hole on the
east county health property for approximately $200.00.

business the board adjourned at 2:00 P.M.
