COMMISSION MINUTES, JULY 30, 2007         

 

The Board of Washington County Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, July 30, 2007, in the commission room at the Washington County Courthouse.  Present:  Alison Mueller, 1st District Commissioner; Marcia Funke, 2nd District Commissioner; Gene Helms, 3rd District Commissioner, Jason Brinegar, County Attorney and Lou Kern, County Clerk.   

 

Chairman Mueller called the meeting to order. 

 

Next regular meeting will be Monday, August 6, 2007 at 8:00 A.M. 

 

The board approved bills and payroll totaling $340,182.72.

 

Chairman Mueller signed payroll change notices for county employees effective August 1.

 

The board worked on 2008 budgets.

 

Duane Bruna, Noxious Weed and Solid Waste Director, reported that Jodie Bruna has been hired in an “as needed” position and Chairman Mueller signed payroll change notice effective July 25, 2007.  Concrete work at the loading dock was approved.

 

David Willbrant, Public Works Administrator, gave work report and bridge grant update.  The garage door at the airport has been installed and a concrete approach is needed.  David is to call for estimates; however, public works may be able to do the work.  FEMA and FHWA work is being done.  Chairman Mueller signed payroll change notices for Jordan Wyatt and Wendy Dague, departing summer help.  The commission agreed that the 1941 aerial photographs and cabinet may be loaned to the Washington County Historical Society.  At 11:30 A.M. Marcia Funke moved to go into executive session with David Willbrant and Jason Brinegar, County Attorney, for 15 minutes to discuss non elected personnel.  Alison Mueller seconded and motion carried.  At 11:45 A.M. the board returned to regular session.  No action was taken.  Permission was given for David Moser to attend an auction in Lyndon to bid on a used truck bed. 

 

The board adjourned at noon for lunch and reconvened at 1:00 P.M.

 

Roine Tegethoff, County Treasurer, spoke with the board on personnel matters.               

 

Airport advisory board members Dean Lovgen and Sharon Pierce met with the board.  Also present were David Willbrant, Public Works Administrator and Christy L’Ecuyer, Business Coordinator.  Maintenance work needed was discussed.  It was agreed that a meeting should be scheduled with the American Legion members to discuss placement of a memorial.  Christy L’Ecuyer spoke about airport grant funding that may be available.

 

At 2:20 P.M. Gene Helms moved to go into executive session with Christy L’Ecuyer, Business Coordinator, for 10 minutes under the confidential data/trade secret exception.  Marcia Funke seconded and motion carried.  At 2:30 P.M. the board returned to regular session.  No action was taken.
