COMMISSION MINUTES, NOVEMBER 13, 2007
The Board of Washington
County Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, November 13, 2007, in
the commission room at the Washington County Courthouse. Present:
Alison Mueller, 1st District Commissioner; Marcia Funke, 2nd
District Commissioner; Gene Helms, 3rd District Commissioner, Jason Brinegar,
Chairman Mueller called the
meeting to order.
Next regular meeting will be Monday,
November 19, 2007 at 8:00 A.M.
The board approved and
Chairman Mueller signed an application to the Board of Tax Appeals for an
exemption on the property purchased from Louis Heck.
Ed Henry,
The board approved and signed
change order nos. 2007-1 through 2007-10.
The board and county
department heads spoke with high school seniors at the County Government Day
sponsored by the Washington County American Legion Council.
Duane Bruna, Noxious Weed and
Solid Waste Director, reported on routine departmental matters. Duane spoke of the need for a disaster plan
that would deal with an event similar to the
David Willbrant, Public Works
Administrator, gave weekly work report.
Chairman Mueller signed payroll change notice for Calvin Dodds due to
the end of summer work effective November 9, 2007. Driftwood removal will continue throughout the
county under the FEMA schedule. Various
bridge projects were discussed as well as the number of truss bridges in the county.
Gene Helms left the meeting
at 12:15 P.M.
The board adjourned at 12:20
P.M. for lunch and reconvened at 1:00 P.M.
At 1:10 P.M. Chairman Bill
Overbeck called the meeting of the Public Building Commission to order. Attending were Alison Mueller, Marcia Funke,
Undersheriff Traci Hattesohl; Dan Rowe, Treanor Architects; Allan Hammes and
Jay Hermann, AHRS Construction. Work
schedule was reviewed showing that the project is ahead of schedule. Next meeting is December 10 at 2:00 P.M.
Sheriff Bill Overbeck
reported that the Tahoe was sold for $6100.00 and the Camaro for $3600.00. Eight jailers have been hired. Two of the recently hired will work part time
for the Sheriff’s department and part time for the jail. Training will begin November 26. Undersheriff Traci Hattesohl and Sheriff
Overbeck discussed an agreement with Tiger Commissary Services Inc. to provide
commissary services to inmates. Marcia
Funke moved to enter into the agreement and Alison Mueller seconded. Motion carried. Food service contracts were discussed and
will be finalized at a later date.
The commission met with
airport board members Sharon Pierce, Eldon Geffert, Dennis White and Dean
Lovgren. Also present were Christy
L’Ecuyer, Business Coordinator and Tom Parker, Washington County News reporter. The discussion centered on a suitable
monument to honor
