COMMISSION MINUTES, NOVEMBER 26, 2007         

 

The Board of Washington County Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, November 26, 2007, in the commission room at the Washington County Courthouse.  Present:  Alison Mueller, 1st District Commissioner; Marcia Funke, 2nd District Commissioner; Gene Helms, 3rd District Commissioner, Jason Brinegar, County Attorney and Kathy Fritz, Deputy County Clerk.

 

Chairman Mueller called the meeting to order.

 

Next regular meeting will be Monday, December 3, 2007 at 8:00 A.M. 

 

The board approved and signed change order no. 2007-12 & 2007-13.

 

The board approved a bid sheet to be sent to all banks in the county for the lease purchase of a main frame computer system for Washington County.

 

Melvin Brungardt, Washington spoke with the board about his solid waste charges.

 

Duane Bruna, Noxious Weed and Solid Waste Director, reported on routine matters.  Duane will be attending a chemical meeting in Hays on December 13th.

 

Gene Helms moved to adopt the job descriptions for the reserve deputies, volunteers and jail deputies.  Marcia Funke seconded and motion carried.

 

Bonnie Miller, AFLAC agent met with the board to have them sign their individual AFLAC forms.

 

Christy L’Ecuyer, Business Coordinator met with the board to discuss the contest for designing a veteran’s memorial at the Veteran’s Memorial Airport.  There are currently 1,898 DD 214(discharge forms) that have been filed in the courthouse.  Veterans are encouraged to file their DD 214 with the Register of Deeds.  Information on this form is not available to the public.  The Smart Start Grant was also discussed.

 

Gloria Moore, Tourism Director introduced Linda Craghead, Executive Director of Flint Hills Tourism Coalition, Inc to the board.  She was touring the county with Gloria.

 

David Willbrant, Public Works Administrator gave his weekly work report for last week.
