COMMISSION MINUTES, JANUARY 7, 2008         

 

The Board of Washington County Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, January 7, 2008, in the commission room at the Washington County Courthouse.  Present:  Alison Mueller, 1st District Commissioner; Marcia Funke, 2nd District Commissioner; Gene Helms, 3rd District Commissioner and Lou Kern, County Clerk.  Absent: Jason Brinegar, County Attorney.

 

Chairman Mueller called the meeting to order with prayer.

 

Next regular meeting will be Monday, January 14, 2008 at 8:00 A.M. 

 

The board signed change order nos. 2007-32 through 2007-36.

 

Marilyn Kolle, Register of Deeds, spoke with the board about how to compile a list of county veterans for name placement on a county veterans’ memorial.

 

The board decided that monies left over in the 2007 ambulance budget due to the closing of the Greenleaf ambulance service will be disbursed after review of the year end ambulance reports are sent to the county clerk.

 

Chairman Mueller signed 2008 cereal malt beverage license application for Cedar Hills Golf Course, Inc., and gave notice to the Washington Township board.

 

Marcia Funke moved and Alison Mueller seconded to adopt Resolution No. 01-08 cancelling three checks that are over two years old.  Motion carried.

 

The board reviewed evaluations and Chairman Mueller signed payroll change notices for Brad Owen, Justin Cordry and Ron Elsasser, effective January 1, 2008.

 

Duane Bruna, Noxious Weed and Solid Waste Director, reported on routine maintenance matters.

 

Christy L’Ecuyer, Business Coordinator, spoke with the board regarding the Smart Start program.

 

Gloria Moore, Tourism Director, will set up the Flint Hills display in the Courthouse lobby over the weekend.  An opening reception is planned for January 14 from 10:00 A.M. to noon in the courthouse lobby.

 

Shirley Marrs, District Court Clerk, presented inventory.  Shirley asked if additional rooms could be painted her office. 

 

The board adjourned at noon for lunch and reconvened at 1:00 P.M.

 

David Willbrant, Public Works Administrator, gave weekly work report.  David presented the remainder of evaluations and Chairman Mueller signed payroll change notices effective January 1, 2008.
