COMMISSION MINUTES, JANUARY 28, 2008         

 

The Board of Washington County Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, January 28, 2008, in the commission room at the Washington County Courthouse.  Present:  Alison Mueller, 1st District Commissioner; Marcia Funke, 2nd District Commissioner; Gene Helms, 3rd District Commissioner, Jason Brinegar, County Attorney and Lou Kern, County Clerk. 

 

Chairman Helms called the meeting to order with prayer.

 

Next regular meeting will be Monday, February 4, at 8:00 A.M. 

 

The board approved bills and payroll totaling $327,081.94.

 

The board toured the jail facility and the painting being done within the courthouse.

 

The board spoke with Sheila Ouellette, Communications Director, regarding 911 signage.

 

Duane Bruna, Noxious Weed and Solid Waste Director, reported on routine maintenance matters.  The recycling baler has been delivered.  Alison Mueller moved to adopt Resolution No. 03-08 abating a solid waste assessment fee and Resolution No. 04-08 adding a solid waste assessment fee.  Marcia Funke seconded and motion carried.  Duane presented 2007 noxious weed report for the board to review.  Marcia Funke moved to approve the 2007 noxious weed eradication.  Alison Mueller seconded and motion carried.

 

The board visited with Bruce Ames, regarding a business that he is establishing in Clifton.  The business name is All Wood Techniques.  Also present were Francine Regan, County Appraiser, and Christy L’Ecuyer, Business Coordinator.  Mr. Ames inquired as to whether his remodeling project would meet the criteria for rebates under the restated and amended revitalization plan.

 

Rosalie Bernasek visited with the board.

 

At 11:20 A.M. Alison Mueller moved to go into executive session for 5 minutes with Jason Bringer, County Attorney, and David Willbrant, Public Works Administrator, under the attorney/client privilege.  Marcia Funke seconded and motion carried.  At 11:25 A.M. the board returned to regular session.  No action was taken.

 

David Willbrant, Public Works Administrator, gave weekly work report.  The bridge grant project final monitoring is scheduled for February 13.  Bridge inspections are to be done in the near future. David reviewed various bridge details.  Darrell Schlabach, Hanover Township Clerk, spoke with David and the board concerning a county/township road that has numerous nails in the road bed.  David discussed various equipment needs for his department.
