COMMISSION MINUTES, MAY 27, 2008         

 

The Board of Washington County Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, May 27, 2008, in the commission room at the Washington County Courthouse.  Present:  Marcia Funke, 2nd District Commissioner; Gene Helms, 3rd District Commissioner; and Lou Kern, County Clerk. Absent:  Alison Mueller, 1st District Commissioner and Jason Brinegar, County Attorney.

 

Chairman Helms called the meeting to order with prayer.

 

Next regular meeting will be Monday, June 2, 2008 at 8:00 A.M. 

 

The board gave permission for use of the courthouse lawn by the Farmers’ Market sponsored by USD 108 FFA.

 

Marcia Funke reported on the tour of the ethanol plant in Republic County that she attended last week.

 

David Willbrant, Public Works Administrator, gave weekly work report.  The board will tour county bridges

Monday, June 2, beginning at 10:00 A.M. in preparation for the hearing set for June 9 at 9:00 A.M.  Chairman Helms signed payroll change notice for Toby Stunkel as summer help effective May 28, 2008.  A revised contract from Bucher, Willis & Ratliff for the airport improvement plan has been received and a notice to proceed will be issued.

 

Duane Bruna, Noxious Weed and Solid Waste Director, reported on routine matters.   A four day work week was discussed and will be further discussed at a department head meeting scheduled on June 16 at 11:00 A.M.

 

The board met with John Denney, Pierce, Faris & Co., county auditors.

 

Marcia Funke moved to enter into an agreement with Sedgwick County for inmate housing at $30.00 per day.  Gene Helms seconded and motion carried.
