COMMISSION MINUTES, JUNE 30, 2008
The Board of Washington
County Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, June 30, 2008, in the
commission room at the Washington County Courthouse. Present: Alison Mueller,
1st District Commissioner; Marcia Funke, 2nd District
Commissioner; Gene Helms, 3rd
District Commissioner and Lou Kern, County Clerk. Absent: Jason Brinegar,
County Attorney.
Chairman Helms called the
meeting to order with prayer.
County offices will be closed
on Friday, July 4, to observe Independence Day.
Next regular meeting is
scheduled for July 7, 2008 at 8:30 A.M.
The board approved bills and
payroll totaling $225,690.99.
David Willbrant, Public Works
Administrator, gave weekly work report.
The board approved the low quote for the purchase of unleaded gasoline
and low sulfur diesel in the amount of $29,800.50 from Kramer Oil. Information has been received that Keystone
Pipeline may be placing another line through Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma for
the transmission of oil. The airport
runway will be inspected by HSW Engineering.
Chairman Helms signed payroll
change notices for Don Richardson, Marilyn Kolle, Register of Deeds and Nola
Dusin, Deputy, effective July 20, 2008.
Janice Kearn, R.N., County
Health Director, presented 2009 budget request.
Duane Bruna, Noxious Weed and
Solid Waste Director, spoke of routine maintenance matters. The spraying done at the airport shall be
paid out of the airport fund. At 10:10
A.M. Marcia Funke moved to go into executive session with Duane Bruna for 10
minutes to discuss non elected personnel.
Alison Mueller seconded and motion carried. At 10:20 A.M. the board returned to regular session. No action was taken. Payroll change notices,
effective July 20, for Noxious Weed and Solid Waste employees were signed by
Chairman Helms.
Christy L’Ecuyer, Business
Coordinator, gave monthly report.
Marcia Funke moved to adopt
Resolution No. 06-08 cancelling a warrant dated June 5, 2006. Alison Mueller seconded and motion carried.
The board approved hiring
Dan’s Tree Service to cut two trees on courthouse lawn for $1745.00 or less.
Marcia Funke moved and Alison
Mueller seconded to adopt Resolution No. 07-08 consolidating the solid waste
fund into the county general fund for the 2009 budget year. Motion carried.
Libby Hiltgen, Assistant
County Attorney, presented 2009 budget request.
