COMMISSION MINUTES, AUGUST 8, 2008
The
Board of Washington County Commissioners met as the Board of County Canvassers
on August 8, 2008 at 8:30 A.M. Present
were Alison Mueller, Marcia Funke and Kathy Fritz in the absence of Gene
Helms. After review of the August 5
Primary Election results and consideration of the provisional ballots before
them, the Board of County Canvassers certified the August 5, 2008 Primary
Election results.
COMMISSION MINUTES, AUGUST 11, 2008
The Board of Washington
County Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, August 11 2008, in the
commission room at the Washington County Courthouse. Present: Alison Mueller,
1st District Commissioner; Marcia Funke, 2nd District
Commissioner; Jason Brinegar, County Attorney and Lou Kern, County Clerk. Absent: Gene Helms, 3rd District
Commissioner.
Vice Chairwoman Funke called
the meeting to order.
Next regular meeting will be Monday,
August 18, 2008 at 8:00 A.M.
The board approved bills and
payroll totaling $192,160.58.
Dennis Stigge, Washington,
spoke with the board about damage to walnut trees due to roadside
spraying. The matter will be turned
into Kastl Powell Insurance agency for determination by the county insurance
company.
Vice Chairwoman Funke signed
payroll change notice for April Kolle from temporary to permanent part time
jailer effective August 3, 2008.
David Willbrant, Public Works
Administrator, gave weekly work report.
Vice-Chairwoman Funke payroll change notices for Garrett Edgar and Eric
Savage due to end of summer employment effective August 15, 2008. Budget issues for 2009 were discussed.
The board worked on the 2009
budget with John Denney, Pierce, Faris & Co., County Auditor, from 10:00
A.M. until shortly before 2:00 P.M.
Debbie Swoboda, Emergency
Management Coordinator, presented an agreement with Dean K. Speaks to do
inventory and type resources for emergency services agencies, public works
(city and county) etc. The contract
will be reviewed by the county attorney.
After review, Jason pointed out several issues and discussed those with
the board. Alison Mueller moved to sign
the contract and Marcia Funke seconded.
Motion carried.
At 2:00 P.M. Alison moved to
go into executive session with Jason Brinegar, County Attorney, under the
attorney/client privilege for 10 minutes in order to place a call to David
Cooper, Topeka attorney. Marcia Funke
seconded and motion carried. At 2:10
P.M. the board returned to regular session.
No action was taken.
The meeting adjourned at 2:35
P.M.
