COMMISSION MINUTES, OCTOBER 27, 2008        

 

The Board of Washington County Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, October 27, 2008, in the commission room at the Washington County Courthouse.  Present:  Alison Mueller, 1st District Commissioner; Marcia Funke, 2nd District Commissioner; Gene Helms, 3rd District Commissioner, Jason Brinegar, County Attorney and Kathy Fritz, Deputy County Clerk.

 

Chairman Helms called the meeting to order with prayer.

 

Next regular meeting will be Monday, November 3, 2008 at 8:30 A.M.

 

Don Richardson, custodian, met with the board to discuss items that have been stored in the boiler room they may want to place on a surplus sale.

 

Duane Bruna, Noxious Weed and Solid Waste Director, met with the board.  John Deere has delivered a demonstration skid loader to the transfer station.  The glass that has been collected throughout the year has been sold.  The C&D pit has been covered up.

 

Ann Hawk, County Treasurer, gave the board information about the gasoline tax that the county receives.

 

Gloria Moore, Tourism Director, met with the board to discuss the events that she had attended in October and her schedule for upcoming events in November.

 

Jason Brinegar, County Attorney, met with the board.  He suggested that he and the board meet with the newly elected County Attorney and 2nd District Commissioner to discuss the transition.

 

The board received notice of the resignation of William J Hardenburger as Union Township Clerk and expressed thanks for his years of service to his community.

 

The board adjourned at noon for lunch and reconvened at 12:45.

 

David Willbrant, Public Works Administrator, gave his weekly work report.  Marcia Funke moved to sign the Force Account Construction Engineering Inspection Services Agreement for performance of work for C-4376-01.  This is the Rhine Bridge west of Haddam.  Alison Mueller seconded and motion carried. 

 

Derek Bruna, Hanover, representing the Rotary Club spoke to the board about their centennial project.

 

There being no further business, the commission adjourned at 2:12 P.M.
