COMMISSION MINUTES, APRIL 26, 2010
The Board of Washington
County Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, April 26, 2010 in the
commission room at the Washington County Courthouse. Present:
Alison Mueller, 1st District Commissioner, Roger Otott, 2nd
District Commissioner; Gene Helms, 3rd District Commissioner,
Chairman, and Elizabeth Hiltgen,
Chairman Helms called the
meeting to order with prayer.
The next regular meeting will
be Monday, May 3, 2010 at 8:30 AM.
Fred Cairns, Greenleaf,
visited with the board.
The board approved and signed
change order nos. 2009-96 through 2009-98.
The board received and
reviewed design documents for KC Pork Inc. for a wean-finish swine confinement
facility in the W/2 NW/4 8-5-1 that was amended to show the proper name of the
organization applying for the KDHE permit.
Don Alldredge, custodian,
gave maintenance report.
Janice Kearn,
R.N., County Health Director, and the board will meet with Quentin Ellis May 10
to discuss possible plans for a county health facility.
Nola Dusin,
Register of Deeds, asked if there would be an end date to place veteran’s name
in the directory. Alison Mueller will
prepare the actual roll to be placed in the directory and it is to be updated
yearly.
Brian Kolle
thanked the board for the opportunity to work for the county. His last day at work at the Noxious
Weed/Solid Waste Department is May 4.
David Willbrant, Public Works
Administrator, gave weekly work report.
The maximum bid for the purchase of a dump
truck on PurpleWave.com was discussed.
Justin Dragastin, Kastl-Powell
Insurance and Billy Shaffer visited with the board regarding the cost of
liability insurance. The board will
discuss the matter with the
At 11:00 A.M. the Chairman
Helms opened four bids for the purchase of a belly dump trailer. Ron Karn, Berry
Tractor, was present. David is to review
the bids and make a recommendation next week.
Gary Hefley, Land Man and Ned Irwin, Trucking Manager for Price Gregory
Construction visited with David and the board regarding Keystone Pipeline
issues. Price Gregory is scheduled to
begin work in
Jim Prescott, Prescott Consutlants/Keystone Pipline,
stopped by to make sure that all is going as scheduled for the TransCanada
project. Jim gave a speech at the Rotary
meeting today.
The board recessed at noon
for lunch and reconvened at 1:00 P.M.
