COMMISSION MINUTES, NOVEMBER 1, 2010
The Board of Washington County Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, November 1, 2010 in the commission room at the Washington County Courthouse. Present: Roger Otott, 2nd District Commissioner; Gene Helms, 3rd District Commissioner, and Elizabeth Hiltgen, County Attorney. Absent: Alison Mueller, 1st District Commissioner, and Lou Kern, County Clerk
Chairman Helms called the meeting to order with prayer.
The next regular meeting will be Monday, November 8, 2010 at 8:30 AM. County Government Day will begin at 9:00 A.M.
The board approved bill and payroll totaling $278,205.58.
The
board approved the purchase of soda pop for County Government students from the
drug and alcohol fund.
Duane
Bruna, Environmental Sciences Director, reported that the new building is now
finished. The commission signed off on the final paperwork. Duane and Justin Hill will attend a solid
waste management class in Hutchinson this week.
The
commission called the Clay County Commission at 10:00 A.M. to discuss a new
business in Clifton. The Clay County
Commission had approved a $5,000.00 revolving loan to the business that is on
the Washington County side and asked the Washington County Commission to
consider some sort of similar assistance.
Gloria
Moore, Tourism Director, gave her monthly report.
Christy
L’Ecuyer reported that USDA has approved the pre-application for funding for a
new hospital. A community meeting will
be scheduled in the near future.
David
Willbrant, Public Works Administrator, gave weekly work report. The board approved the purchase of a new
power washer. Keystone Pipeline
officials want to come to Washington County to review the claim submitted for
damages to county and township roads.
The
board recessed at noon for lunch and reconvened at 1:00 P.M.
The
board spoke with Elizabeth Hiltgen, County Attorney, on several pending issues.
The
meeting adjourned at 1:30 P.M.
