COMMISSION MINUTES, DECEMBER 20, 2010
The Board of Washington County Commission met in regular session on Monday, December 20, 2010 in the commission room at the Washington County Courthouse. Present: Roger Otott, 2nd District Commissioner; Gene Helms, 3rd District Commissioner, and Lou Kern, County Clerk. Absent: Alison Mueller, 1st District Commissioner and Elizabeth Hiltgen, County Attorney, due to illness.
Chairman Helms called the meeting to order with prayer.
County offices will be closed on Friday, December 24 and Monday, December 27 for the Christmas holiday and Friday, December 31 for the New Year holiday. The board will meet on Tuesday, December 28 at 8:30 A.M. for the regular meeting.
The board approved and signed change order nos. 2010-26 through 2010-30.
The board approved and Chairman Helms signed Official Bond and Affidavit of Sureties for Mark Koss, Lowe Township Clerk; Douglas Beikman, Strawberry Township Clerk and Ronald J. Wurtz, Mill Creek Township Clerk.
Roger Otott moved and Gene Helms seconded to sign one year permits with C & M Refuse, Inc.; Durflinger Disposal Services, Inc. and Jones Trash Services to utilize the Washington County landfill for 2011. Motion carried.
Roger Otott moved and Gene Helms seconded to approve payment of the $150.00 dues for 2011 to the Association of Community Foundation. Motion carried.
The board viewed a payroll change notice submitted by Ann Hawk, County Treasurer, for the 2nd quarter, April through June, 2010, in the amount of $1114.61, bringing the total paid to her from county auto funds for 2009 and 2010 to $8,488.05, in addition to her base salary of $34,152.56.
Duane Bruna, Noxious Weed and Solid Waste Director, has been asked to reinstate the reduced fees for housing demolition. The board decided not to do so at this time. Ads will be placed in county newspapers reminding residents that the transfer station will be closed on Saturdays beginning January 1, 2011 for the trial period ending April 1, 2011.
Debbie Swoboda, Emergency Management Coordinator, presented office inventory. Debbie reported that 14 CERT members are certified and 7 members are pending certification.
Jim Mueller spoke with the board.
Christy L'Ecuyer, Business Coordinator, updated the board on various issues.
David Willbrant, Public Works Administrator, gave weekly work report. Keystone Pipeline issues were discussed. The board and David will meet with Jim Prescott and Tommy Darnell next Tuesday at 11:30 A.M. to discuss road damages caused by TransCanada/Keystone Pipeline during construction.
