Effective May 1, 2010 Washington County residents will have a new emergency notification and services system; Immediate Response Information System, known as IRIS. The system was purchased for Washington County by the Regional Homeland Security Planning Committee.

Residents can be notified via phone, text message or e-mail. The alerts will be sent out by the county 911 center. Residents can opt to have their notifications sent to more than one device.
