A warm welcome is extended to all hunters and fisherman that come to visit Washington County. Public walk-in areas are available for hunting.  The Washington County State Fishing Lake is located North of the City of Washington.  Call for information regarding other area services or visit the Washington County website.

Housing and/or Land to Hunt

Fishing

  • The Washington County State Lake is located just 11 miles northwest of Washington via County Road.  This 111 acre lake is surrounded by 352 acres of public hunting land, which harbors quail, pheasant, dove, squirrels, rabbits, whitetail deer, beaver, muskrats, raccoons, coyotes, bobcats, mountain lions, and numerous non-game birds and animals.  Migrating waterfowl are observed in the spring and fall.
  • The Little Blue River has access roads at various locations around the County for fisherman.
  • Numerous Streams and the Little Blue River are awaiting the avid fisherman.

If you are visiting any one of our 12 Villages in the County, overnight parking is available in the parks by contacting the City Clerk’s office.

    ~ Rose Garden Camping Park – 2 blocks south of U.S. 36 & K-15 Junction, 785-325-2411, 8 a.m. to noon and 4 to 9 p.m. daily.   All utilities available included in weekly rent. Can rent by month or day.  Telephone and cable TV available at your expense.  Small pets and children must be supervised at all times.
    ~ City of Washington Campground – 1100 D Street, located at the south end of the City Park.  Twenty electrical hookups, limited water hookups, dump station and heated bathhouse with shower facility.  Pull in anytime.  Free will donation first 72 hours.  For longer parking, contact Washington City Hall, 301 C Street, downtown Washington.
